Florida Criminal Defense Lawyer
Q.Can someone tell me what step to take to be a lawyer? I am a high school graduate and 21 years old. I have decided to further my career and I would like to be a criminal defense lawyer. I reside in florida. What would be my first and secound step with only a high school diploma so far. I need to be pointed in the right direction.
A.Find a university in your area that has a good pre-law program and work hard. Your counselor should set you on the right path. You need to maintain a good GPA and extracurriculars so that you can get into a good law school. Keep good contacts with people in the business and make sure that your professors know you well so that you can get good letters of recommendation. Once you graduate, you can take the LSATs and try to get an internship. Make sure you pick a good law school and don't get frustrated when you finally take the Bar because almost no one passes the first time. It is a long path, but a lucrative and rewarding career so it's well worth it. You want to study public affairs when you go to college.There you will find study courses in criminal law. Do not confuse this with courses in being a paralegal.
