Q.Where do I find a lawyer to sue the IRS for damages for me? I thought I had a lawyer to go into court but it has not worked out and I have exhausted all the volunteer organizations. My attorney, who got the approval on the Offer In Compromise, said a Manager at the IRS has given me grounds to sue for damages, as he refuses to put through the OIC that was accepted, and stated that he would NEVER accept ANY offer that was put in for me.
A.If the OIC has been accepted by the IRS, your attorney's work is done. Just contact the IRS directly for the details on the case. You have no need to sue the IRS, although your attorney is another case entirely. As to suing your attorney, look in the Yellow Pages. But good luck on that -- it's a lot like filing a brutality complaint with some police departments -- they tend to protect their own sometimes.
