Find A Lawyer Ny
Q.I have been suffering bouts of depression since I was in my teens (I am now 37.) I had returned to work this past December following an extended leave that was lengthened against my will by my employer. Then on Monday Feb. 10th, ridiculous false accusations were leveled against me and I was again forced out on leave. I have decided not to return to that employer because the harassment and now this latest incident just causes me to slide back down into the hole and it is not doing my health any good. However, I do want to fight back against these accusations with the help of a lawyer, at the least clear my name, and try to recover damages if possible. Is anyone here in or near the Capital Region of NY and can you recommend a good lawyer who is familiar with Civil Service Labor and Disability Law? So far I've only been referred to the Albany Bar Association, so I have that and the Yellow Pages, but I would much rather get a real referral from someone with experience.
A.Try looking for a legal or lawyer newsgroup or something. Otherwise, try contacting NAMI, the National Association for the Mentally Ill. If they can't help you find a lawyer, another similar group might be able to. I have contacted similiar groups such as Disability Advocates and they only tell me to contact the Albany Bar. I have contacted three such groups, but I haven't contacted NAMI. I guess I will try them, although to tell the truth I do not like that organization (they are really more about control and restraint and are advocates for the families rather than the rights of the mentally ill themselves.) Yes I have been searching online in other areas but although I come up with names I do not find qualifications or recommendations from real clients and that is what I am looking for. I've only had one experience with a lawyer so far, that was for my real estate transactions, and it was not a good experience, and I don't want to get burned on this one.
