Q.I live in maryland and I cant get a lawyer for social security? I cant get a lawyer because they say im to young which im 26 years old. I have to work because im on probation and I cant hold down a job. I have racing thoughts and depression, and schzo-affective disorder, and dsthymia ive tried work a 40 hour week job but I cant because I always remenesse about my past or somebody can say something and it always bothers me, and the thoughts in my head I try to fight. I am kind of smart but I feel I have severe mental health issues. I have a hearing in august 2007 and I was wanting to know of any lawyer that would take my case and will to travel I live in western maryland and dont drive. Also I called social security and they said I have enough work credits in. any advice for me???
A.I don`t understand why they say you are too young. That is irrelevant.The good thing is that you have enough credits to get security disability or SSDI.Call your local disability office to see which program you are eligible for- either SSDI or social security disability pay. Any lawyer who specializes in this area can take your case and won`t charge until you win. Be warned though most people are denied disability and end up having to have a hearing. You need a doctor to give you a diagnosis and agree you are not able to work.It may take you up to 2and a half years to get approved for disability pay.Most lawyers wil travel to your house if you are unable to get to their office.Find those lawyers in your area via the phone book and speak to them to see if they can travel.
