Q.Is there anyone know about California Lawyer for custody case? My husband and I are going through a custody battle. He was very abusive.. though mostly verbally and controlling... and has decided to file for custody. He is not supporting she or I and I wasn't allowed to have a job so I have -very- little money. If anyone is or knows of a lawyer who would allow me to get on a payment plan or is reduced cost ?
A.just did a search for you on targetlaw.com. It is a very good search engine with tons of attorneys, in fact it is an all lawyer search engine. It is great for these types of searches. Goto targetlaw.com and put in the following phrase....California custody lawyers payment plans - over ten pages of lawyers in California that offer payment plans. Many attorneys are willing to work out something with their clients if needed. You can also hire a Paralegal which is just as good but a whole lot cheaper. Paralegals do the attorneys leg work anyway. Check your yellow pages.Also you may contact your local legal aid association for free help. I can tell you that he can file whatever he wants to but there is no guarantee he will get it and custody is extremely hard for a father to get as he has to prove the mother unfit which is no easy feat. Also dont use any accusations against him unless you have concrete evidence supporting those accusations because wthout any, its hearsay and the Judges dont like it and itll hurt you more than help.
