Family LawyerQ.I'm looking into creating a will... or something like that. I'm so new to this, that I don't even know the exact term for the document I want to create. Anyhow, I'd like to know what your opinions are on the Quicken Family Lawyer products. My main reason for asking this question is because I'd like to know which version out there (2000,2001,2002, etc.) is preferred and why. Now since I've never used Quicken Family Lawyer before, I don't want to be stuck using a weaker version of the product without even knowing it. I know that I'm probably best off just buying the 2002 version, but there are plenty of copies of the 2000 and 2001 versions for sale on eBay and I'd just as well buy one of those versions if they happen to be better than the 2002 version. Well, this question about "which one is best" is probably too vague. any opinions or suggestions on "Quicken Family Lawyer" for me??? A.I can state one downside for the 2000 version. With the changing of hands of the ownership of products, the links to update document templates are no longer active in that version. I just used that version to prepare wills. The interface was easy to work with. The final product had a few formatting errors. Overall, I would go with the latest if starting from scratch for the availability of current support. I know, support and Intuit are oxymorons. If this is your first time to draw a will, have it done by a lawyer in your state of legal residence, who is familiar with the laws of that state. One of the weaknesses of Lawyer software - any brand and any model - is that laws are unique to their own jurisdiction - which means that a will valid for one of our United States may or may not be proper for any of the other 49 - or DC or Puerto Rico, etc. And there's no reason to expect it to be any good in any foreign nation - including the USA if you live in Canada or Kazakhstan or wherever. Remember that a will, even if drawn by an amateur, will be interpreted by a judge, who is an expert, and quite possibly by multiple lawyers, who are all experts and who may not be happy with what you have drawn up. And they ALL will insist on being paid out of the assets that you intended for your heirs. Other Questions : Criminal Defence AttorneyTo Convicting Jurors Am I missing something?
