Q.What do you think about "lying in Family Court " "Family Court" IS a LIE, you fucking asshole. When I became a family law attorney/mediator after a dozen years as a therapist, one of the biggest surprises was the extent of lying in Family Court
A.by the time that families get to our Family Court (Australia) they are already in pieces. The Family Court of Australia will save a marriage if it can. I acted for a wife applying for a divorce. Her husband thought that the marriage could be saved. The judge ordered them to talk this over with a counselor. As she was going out, my lady said "I'll kill myself if they make me go back to him." Predictably, the counselor reported that the marriage couldn't be saved. I acted for a husband who thought that his wife was so friendly, that a reconciliation was possible. The wife replied that she was quite willing to be friends with him, but not married to him. We didn't even get to the counsellor, that time. It would be good if the Court could intervene sooner. Here, the only ground for divorce is 12 months' separation, but there isn't much readily accessible support during those 12 months, or earlier. A bit of counselling as soon as they separate might save a lot of marriages. The Family Court counselors are available to ANY couple with a problem, but it isn't well known, and if one of them arrives at my office, it is the first thing that I have to tell them about - when it is far too late. By that stage, all that they can be helped with is the anger and feelings of failure that go with a divorce, and helped to leave each other on terms of mutual respect (which a lot of couples actually want. Their attitude is "O.K., it didn't work out for us, but there is no blame attached." The wife at the end of my last paragraph is a good example.)
