Q.I have a friend whose brother doesn't want to go to court because he is afraid he will get stuck in jail if he doesn't have the money for the court fees. I'm trying to tell them it's going to be worse if he doesn't go. He was pulled over for a DWI and hasn't seen a lawyer so I guess he's going to represent himself. Does anyone know what would be the cost of court fees for a DWI in NC?
A.l i live in texas and the first offense fines are a max 1000 min 500 dollars but it might be slightly less in your state. Make sure he goes to court or he will have a warrant put out for his arrest and then will spend time in prison and still have to pay the fines. Also make sure he dosent have a second offense or the fines can go up to 2000 dollars and loss of license for a year I had one dui about 5 years ago and let me tell you there is nothing to worry about as far as fees he will have to pay it but not untill about 4 months i believe after his court hearing if he doesnt show up hes screwed and they will throw him in jail and have a bigger fine trust me now it usually is like a 450 dollar fee not sure if thats changed they also add court fees please tell your friend that if he goes to keep quite and answer yes and no to everything with no excuses or they will order a pre-screen investigation on him which in fact does a back ground check and if they find anyother priores then most likely he will get jail time and no probabtion
