Practically speaking, the Courts are still leaning towards mothers, especially, when the age of the child is considered. Georgia has adopted family laws and policies which are harmful to parents and children and actually encourage divorce in Georgia. Georgia's courts show blatant gender bias against men in the matters of custody. This bias is so imbedded that women will get custody 97% of the time no matter how deserving a father is for custody or how unfit a mother is. We have Superior Court judges who openly admit to the view that "....the calf belongs with the cow." What do you think?
A.the only cites here that seem to present no agenda (notice the all important seem to present - i think there is one somewhere) are the census stats and the problem with these are these do not represent cases where the father has contested custody. they only show who the child is living with and if there was _court ordered_ support. for instance - they have a never married section - now, just because they weren't married doesn't mean that the father didn't try for custody or for that matter in the never married fathers that the mother didn't try for custody. again, i am not saying that there is not bias . . .
