Q.CRIMINAL law? I have some wonders that: Compare the punishments for sex crimes and the feelings about them with the punishments and feelings for other crimes. Why is it that sex crimes are likely to be punished quite severely and cause such angry feelings among the members of the community?
A.Sex crimes are more despised and more severely punished because they violate the victim in the most personal way possible. The after effects of a sex crime are many times physical and psychological in nature. Sex crimes, especially committed on the very young, can have lasting effects on the development of the victim's personality that are difficult to reverse. The perpetrator of a sex crime is more likely to have some form of relationship or prior relationship with the victim. The problem with prosecuting sex crimes is that in many cases, the charges are filed with not much more that victim's statements or eyewitness accounts. Sex crime victims still feel embarrassed or shamed and often wait to come forward with their information, making the possibility of collecting physical evidence impossible. When there is a strong case against a sex offender, there is no cause for leniency.
