Q.Outline nature of law of tort in UK which is British law.? Give a detailed outline of the nature of law of tort under UK (British law) and distinguish law of tort from criminal law and law of contract. Any help for me???
A.The law of "tort" derives from the french word for wrong or incorrect. e.g "Tu as tort" = You are wrong. It refers to litigation for non-criminal offences where a party has nonetheless been wronged in some way. e.g. Defamation of character. Criminal law applies to the better known more serious offences. e.g. Murder and rape. Contractural law applies where there has been a failure to carry out obligations under a specific contract. For example if a builder has not completed by a contractually agreed date his client can justly claim damages. The builder might then be forced to pay compensation. You should probably quote some case law. And no I am not going to do that for you! You have the idea now so you better do some reading.
