Connecticut Immigration Lawyer

Q.I just wanted to tell you about my immigration lawyer who took my money, did virtually nothing and my application for permanent residence in the United States, got denied. I presented conclusive documentation that confer me skills to work as an independent scientist capable to contribute to the improvement of health care in this country. I kept calling my lawyer and she never returned my calls and I learned that my application was denied after one of my daily calls, which made her decide to open the envelope and say "oops! you got denied". For obvious reasons I cannot name her, but if you or someone you know is thinking of starting business with her, you might just want to think it twice (if you want to make your money's worth). She's in Westport, Connecticut. Just a word of caution for whoever is considering immigration. When searching for an immigration lawyer, go to someone who has been recommended by several people (who personnally dealt with him/her and had a satisfactory outcome) and never trust lawyers' bragging language such as: "I never loose a case like yours",or "I consider myself an expert in doing applications in your category, blah, blah, blah". Any experience???

A.There is a certain lawyer that I have knownledge of, He charges his "aliens" two hundred dollars a month as a retainer and it seems like almost all of them end up being deported anyway. I've seen a few that were looking forward to going home and getting out of jail and at the very last minute the lawyer pulls some of tha "lawyer stuff" and they get pulled off the plane/bus going home, he/she kept them here just a bit longer...about $200 bucks longer. There is also another certain lawyer who calls the INS office hours after the person he needs to talk to has gone home (and he know his work hours) I am beginning to think, that its only so that he can log some telephone time for his alien... who know what that phone call cost someone. I have met a few good immigration lawyer, but they are of the type that do not take every case that is offered to them, they only take the ones that they have a good chance of winning. It doesn't always work and really isn't allowed but, if you get a chance you might ask a deportation officer or counter person for the names of one or two good lawyers.
