Colorado Bankruptcy Lawyer
Q."If you get licensed in *any* state then you have a license to practice law in ALL federal courts in the country. Immigration, bankruptcy, federal criminal, federal civil, the works. And you can pro hac vice into your own Colorado state courts as well. " Is it right? What do you think and some experience to share??? And this statute saying bankruptcy lawyers and immigration lawyers and patent lawyers (all federal areas) don't have a right to collect their fees via collection firms??? Is it true???
A.Colorado doesn't *allow* you to practice as an out-of-state attorney while residing in their state. Colo. R. Civ. P. 220. Further, Colorado requires those attorneys who do practice in their courts pro hac vice to associate themselves with a licensed member of its state bar, who could be called upon to try the case in your absence. And how would I collect my receivables in our courts? C.R.S. Sec. 12-5-101, et seq. Finally, in Colorado, admission pro hac vice is at the discretion of the court. They make it so hard to practice here using another state license that it simply isn't worth the brain damage. Any bankruptcy or immigration lawyer who doesn't get his money in advance needs to find a new line of work. As if I have any interest in practicing immigration law. As far as bankruptcy is concerned, iirc, payments out of the debtor's estate are authorized by the court, so you don't have to ask for cash up-front.
