Cheap Divorce Lawyer

Q.I left my USC husband... he is definitely moving to Florida next week, handing keys over to the bankruptcy lawyer he has to give to the bank. Apparently I have *no* say in this.. also found out the other day he didn't renew his auto insurance policy. It's the car he let me take to use. So, I've been driving for a month with no insurance and with my infant grandchild and daughter. In his chapter 13 he is supposed to keep full coverage on it due to funds still owing on the car. He won't get insurance on it. I definitely can't buy another car. I can't find an attorney I can afford, because I don't have extra funds, and can't find one who'll do pro bono. Anyone have any ideas??

A.You can purchase auto insurance on your own can't you? Do not think you cannot afford a car - I did, with a small down payment - sure I overpaid for the car, but well - I 'have' a car... I found a cheap divorce lawyer in our green sheet (tv flyer that comes on on Sat) and I paid her what I could, when I could - been divorced almost a year now... Yes it took me from Nov to March to pay her but I got it done. You just have to keep looking, keep talking and voice your problem - there are people that have been there and found a way around it. My credit was ruined - yet I talked to this apt complex manager and got in. You just have to try as hard as you can and not give up. Nobody can really afford a lawyer. So try to get his retainer, borrow from relatives or sell your furniture, then pay off the rest a little each month. Show you intend to pay by giving him a retainer first. But I think lawyers, like many businessmen, tend to judge a person by their financial stability, and rightly so. They have to make a decision to see how likely they will get all their fees. So people who earn more or appear to earn more tend to get more leeway, as far as payments go. A lawyer, in their initial interview, may ask for your job and income. See if you can get away with telling them just your job, but say your income is private. See if that works.
