Car Accident Lawyers

Q.I was in accident in New Jersey. i was on the rightmost slowest lane, and this huge delivery trailer-truck suddenly made a right swerve to the right lane, ran me off the road and caught me between its back wheels and totally destroyed my car and almost killed me. i just came out of the hospital and i am contemplating hiring one of those Car accident lawyers you see on TV. the only problem is i was driving without insurance. what can i do? can i sue the truck drivers company or insurance? do i get a rental car to move around? will i be jailed for driving without insurance? will the lawyers be able to get me anything? at least my car back?

A.I don't know anything about the laws of New Jersey concerning driving without insurance. But regardless of what those laws say, you need to see New Jersey attorney experienced in auto accident cases. The first reason is that you need to ask that person about the laws concerning driving without insurance. If you find out that the law prevents you from suing, or presents risks to you, you would drop the matter. If the attorney tells you that there is no impediment to filing a lawsuit, that attorney will be glad to handle your case. The damages recovered will almost certainly be more than you could recover by handling the matter yourself. When you make the appointment, make sure the consultation is free. You'll notice that the only advice given (other than the suggestion to join a pyramid scam) was to consult a local attorney. I'll add to that: ask around for people you know (in your state) who were in similar types of situations, if any of them used an attorney they liked. That's the safest recommendation you can find.
