A.Not true! Canadian immigration lawyers may be consulted to ensure that the application has been properly completed. Often, a one-hour consultation is all that is needed to have the immigration application verified, and to have answered the many questions normally held by prospective immigrants (how long will it take? will I qualify? etc.) You may access the Web Site maintained by the Department of Citizenship and Immigration for accurate and cost-free information. On the other hand, if an applicant wishes to have more than a one-hour consultation, and prefers to have the lawyer assist in the entire process, then, it should be noted that in the Province of Quebec, immigration lawyers are usually requesting lower fees than those commanded by immigration consultants. Most people are unaware of this. It is simply not accurate to state that it is usually expensive to hire a lawyer to help with an application.
