California Attorney General

Q.I've been asked by the California Attorney General's Office to post this request for samples of spam sent to California residents, via California mailservers, from or advertising California companies that violate the California laws. I'd like to ask that if people forward this elsewhere they do not just post the email address listed, rather forward either this entire post or the URL to the page on the CA AGs webserver. "This message is being posted at the request of the California Attorney General's Office. The California Attorney General's Office is interested in obtaining information about spammers who are sending emails to Californians in violation of California law, particularly those who are operating from California. The spam posted in various newsgroups and mailing lists provides some valuable leads, but we would really like to obtain certain kinds of examples directly from individual recipients who would be prepared to verify, in a written statement under oath, information about spam they received. Because of the potential for disruptions of our own network, we are not using a Department of Justice email address. For the same reason, we have opted not to post the names or email addresses of the individual DOJ employees working on this investigation. Instead, we are requesting replies to an external email address set up with samspade.org: "

A.I'll send in info tomorrow for Hurricane Electric & their listwashing for someonelikesyou.com (both located the bay area) and other he.net porn spams. I'd already notified he.net that I will make a formal complaint to the CAG as well as the Oakland BBB if they do not take action against someonelikesyou.com (see previous thread: HE.Net & listwashing for someonelikesyou.com) -- this makes it much easier. Question: how will the CAG filter valid spam complaints meeting their criteria against old and perhaps dead accounts/spammers? My point here is that I could probably go back in my archives and find quite a few spams that meet the CAG criteria, but many of those are already dead or have moved on to services outside of California. Perhpaps you could have them refine the submissions to spams not more than 30-60 days old etc., and still meeting the criteria? This could save them a lot of time and effort in tracking down useless information and/or spammers that have already been taken care of. If they (CAG) need archives of a particular spammer from beyond the 30-60 day period, then perhaps they could post here (via you?) or post a request on their website.
