How long can they sue?

Q.My mother had an automobile accident ten years ago (in September)in the Los Angeles county area. Every couple of months, she gets a letter from a new lawyer stating that she is being sued (again)for that car accident. I thought someone can sue for a certain number of years. My mother feels harrassed by all these lawyers trying to sue her repeatedly. For how many years can someone legally sue someone for a car accident? Isn't there a ''cut-off'' date?

A.An attorney should be able to write a letter to these folks threatening them with a lawsuit for intentional infliction of emotional distress and, perhaps, elder abuse, if they keep it up!
